Obituary for Ronald Johnson

Ronald E. Johnson, 78, of Summerville, SC, and formerly of Lewes, DE, Wilmington, DE, and Lanse, PA, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, at Summerville Medical Center. Born October 5, 1938, in Lanse, PA, he was the son of the late Gunnard and Lois (Showers) Johnson. He graduated from Cooper Township High School and Lock Haven University. On October 21, 1961, he married the former Barbara L. Twist, who passed away October 1, 2014. Ron served 6 years in the United States Army during Vietnam and taught Drivers Education at Delcastle High School in Wilmington, DE, for over 30 years. He was an avid fan of wrestling and was the Head Coach of the Delcastle High School wrestling team as well as an Assistant Coach of their football team. He is survived by two sons, Keith R. Johnson of Bald Head Island, NC, and Korey R. Johnson and his wife Kristy of Summerville, SC; a brother, Wayne Johnson and his wife Jeannie of Morrisdale, PA; and two grandsons, Gabriel R. Johnson and Lucas C. Johnson both of Summerville, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two infant daughters. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4th & Presqueisle St. Philipsburg, on Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 am with Rev. Father Robert McKay IV officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the church by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
