Obituary for Norma Gilham

Norma Jean Gilham, 87, of the Philipsburg Towers, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:39pm at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born December 19, 1930 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Seth & Naomi (Harris) Bell. Norma was the bookkeeper for D&M Sanitation of Philipsburg and was later a partner with her husband in Gilham Sanitation until her retirement. She was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, South Philipsburg, and was a former member of the Philipsburg BPO Elk Lodge #1173 and Philipsburg AM Vets Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler. On July 12, 1950 in Philipsburg, she married Lew D. Gilham, who passed away November 19, 1986. Norma is survived by three sons James Lew Gilham and his wife Jennifer of Philipsburg and Weston, FL, Clayton Gene Gilham and his wife Jean of South Philipsburg and Patrick Wayne Gilham and his wife Lynne of West Decatur; two sisters Florence Wood of (Tyrone Pike) Philipsburg RD and Frances Ann Osborne and her husband Jerry of Waynesboro, PA; five grandchildren Janis Gilham of Silver springs, MD, Heidi Lynn Myers of West Decatur, Eric D. Gilham of Voorhees, NJ, Mindy Mackenzie of Sea Side, CA and Jessica Kuzmen of Pittsburgh and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by a sister Velma Gilpatrick and five brothers Harold “Hun” Bell, Edward Bell, Norman Bell, Charles Bell and Richard Bell. A memorial service will be held at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 317 Hemlock St. Philipsburg, on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11am with her son Clay serving as officiant. Interment will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Norma’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
