Obituary for Michael Demchak

Michael V. Demchak, 84, of North Philipsburg, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Windy Hill Village, P.S.L., Philipsburg. Born December 31, 1933 in Rush Twp., he was a son of George & Mary (Lucak) Demchak. Mike was a 1951 graduate of Philipsburg High School and completed 2 years at Williamsport Vo-Tech and 1 year at barber school in Johnstown. He was a laborer, mechanic and machinist at Piper Aircraft. A veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict on the USS Wasp. Mike was a member of Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Chester Hill, the Philipsburg VFW Louis P. Jenkins Post 3450 and the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post 6. On January 20, 1957 at Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Chester Hill, he married Louise (Couturiaux) Demchak, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter Stanley Demchak and his wife Jody of Black Moshannon, Julia Blazosky and her husband Mark of Philipsburg and Thomas Demchak and his wife Rhonda of Philipsburg; 3 brothers Joe Demchak of Philipsburg, Samuel Demchak of Alliance, OH, and Carl Demchak and his wife Georgia of North Philipsburg; 1 sister Suzanna Demchak of Mechanicsburg; 3 granddaughters Noelle Croyle, Sarah Demchak and Emily Demchak; two great grandchildren Tristyn Slogosky and Tayla Darby and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers George Demchak, John Demchak, Theodore Demchak, Eugene Demchak and Stephen Demchak and 1 sister Christine Demchak. A Funeral Service will be held at Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 420 Laura St., Philipsburg, on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:00am with Very Rev. Fr. C. Michael Simerick officiating. Internment will military honors will follow at the church cemetery. Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Wednesday, August 29 from 3-6pm. Panikhida will be at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to Nativity of St. john the Baptist Orthodox church, 420 Laura St., Philipsburg, PA 16866.
