Obituary for Taylor Harpster

Taylor Ann “Tammy” “T-Harp” Harpster, 27, of (North) Philipsburg, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at UMPC Altoona. Born September 3, 1991 in State College, she was the daughter of John Winston Jr. & Bobbi Ann (Simmons) Harpster of Glass City, Philipsburg. Taylor was a 2010 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School, attended Juanita College and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lock Haven University in 2014 with a degree in Accounting. She was very active throughout her high school career in softball, volleyball and basketball. Taylor was the 2010 Snyder Scholarship Award recipient. She also received the Athlete of the Week award in the Progress, CDT and Altoona Mirror for each sport numerous times. Taylor finished her high school career surpassing the goals set, by scoring 1,361 points in basketball, over 1,000 kills in volleyball and 130 hits in softball with a batting average of .447. Taylor was a key player as a freshman starter for the P-O softball team when they won the PIAA State Championship in 2007. She continued playing volleyball for Juniata College during her time there. Taylor was employed by Harpsters of Philipsburg. She was of the Christian Faith and was attending Tri County Church, Clearfield. She was a member of the Philipsburg BPO Elk Lodge #1173, Osceola Mills Lithuanian Club and the Clearfield MOOSE. Taylor loved Penn State sports, Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Cardinals and was a PO Mountie fan. Taylor was a beautiful, vivacious, loving, caring, thoughtful, young soul. She enjoyed life to the fullness, and like her Gram Norm, Taylor was always the life of the party. You always knew it was a holiday when she was dressed up in what she called her holiday glam. Taylor loved everyone she met and treated them with kindness, very often too much. Her biggest joy was watching over and protecting her younger siblings, Macy and Johnny. They were the light of her life. In addition to her parents, Taylor is survived by her sister Macy Neideigh and her husband Aaron of Spring Mills, her brother Johnny Harpster III of Glass City, paternal grandparents Janet S. Harpster of Naples, FL and J. Winston Harpster of Crystal River, FL; Aunts Carrie Lyn Hutton and her husband James of Gearhartville and Jody Czap and her husband Michael and their children A.J. and Zack, of York; Uncles Robert L. Harpster and his wife Melissa and their children Savannah and Olivia, of Naples, FL and Douglas Harpster and his children LeiLani and Oliver, of Philipsburg; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins. Taylor was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Harry F. & Norma Jean Simmons. A young life taken too soon, Taylor will be loved and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service will be held at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11am with Pastor Ryan Parish & Pastor Anthony Caiola co-officiating. Taylor will be laid to rest at the Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Wednesday, January 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm and again at the First Church of Christ on Thursday from 10 until the hour of service at 11. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.dahlgren-spewock.com. Memorial Contributions in Taylor’s memory may be made to the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation, c/o Taylor Harpster (T-HARP) Scholarship Fund, 561 Mallard Rd., Philipsburg, PA 16866. "She's a dreamer. She's a doer. She's a thinker. She sees possibility everywhere." I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint. Jeremiah 31:25
