Suzanne C. Holdren, 87 of Curtis Park, Philipsburg, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born March 8, 1934 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late James and Josephine (Dinger) Cornely. Sue was a graduate of Philipsburg High School and Bucknell College, where she earned a degree in Biology. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Philipsburg, where she served as an Elder and was a member of the church choir and hand bell choir. Sue was also a member of Valley Voices, the Philipsburg Elks, the Bridge Club, the Philipsburg Rod & Gun Club and the Windy Hill Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed teaching piano lessons, feeding and watching the birds and wildlife, gardening, crocheting and knitting prayer shawls for the church and making other items for the bazaars. Sue was a fan of Penn State, the Steelers, Penguins and Iowa State. On January 7, 1956 in Philipsburg, she married William F. “Ned” Holdren, who preceded her in death on January 12, 2006. Sue is survived by three sons Brad Holdren of Philipsburg, Jay Holdren and his wife Sharry of Dubuque, Iowa and Jeff Holdren and his wife Michelle of Manchester; a sister Carole Batcheler and her husband Bill of State College; six grandchildren Britt, Dru, Kolby, Tate, Evie and Mazie and four great grandchildren Oliver, Althea, Takeio and Zekarias. A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 E. Presqueisle St., Philipsburg, on Saturday, February 5th at 12pm with Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 11am until the hour of service. Sue will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
