Obituary for Shirley Mills

Shirley LaRue Mills, 91, of West Decatur and formerly of Betz, Madera RD, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at her home. Born November 19, 1926 in Betz, Madera RD, she was a daughter of the late Clair & Martha (Grandville) Kephart. Shirley was a member of the Army Nurses Corp, Class of 1947 and was a Registered Nurse at the former Philipsburg State General Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, West Decatur, where she was a member of the Present Helpers Class. Shirley was also a Cub-Scout den mother and a member of the Chinklamoose Square Dance Club. On August 28, 1948 in Philipsburg, she married Harold “Harry” Mills, Sr., who passed away February 23, 2004. Shirley is survived by five children Harold Mills and his wife Marlene of West Decatur, Gerald Mills and his wife Diane of Mt. Joy, Darrel Mills and his wife Janet of West Decatur, Rhonda Neidrick and her husband Gary of Philipsburg and Robert Mills and his wife Greta of Osceola Mills; a brother Leonard Kephart of Altoona; a sister Maxine Stuber of Painesville, OH; 10 grandchildren Lorie Sedlmyer, Stephanie Bonner, Kimberly Morgan, Aaron Mills, Amy Grenoble, Ashley Cragg, Allison Kardohely, Thad Neidrick, Clint Mills and Alan Mills and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother Elwood Kephart and a sister Betty Raab. A funeral service will be held at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, PA on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 2pm with Pastor John T. Dill and Pastor Sarah Kim co-officiating. Burial will follow at Mock’s Hill Cemetery, West Decatur. Honoring Shirley’s request, there will be no public viewing.
