Sharon R. Schleig, 84, of Gearhartville (Philipsburg RD), passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Penn Highlands Dubois. Born on May 11, 1938 at Gearhartville, she was a daughter of the late Harry Sr. and Louise (Jones) Millard. Sharon was a 1958 graduate of the Philipsburg High School and retired from the former Philipsburg State Hospital where she worked in the janitorial/housekeeping department. She was a member of the gFree Church. On November 30, 1963 in Gearhartville, she married Joel R. Schleig, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1993. Sharon is survived by a daughter Kim M. Hockenberry of Dubois, a granddaughter Brianna Hockenberry, and four brothers and sisters Franklin Millard and wife Shirley of Madera, Sylvia Marko of Osceola Mills, Harry Millard Jr. of Gearhartville and Carol Kephart of Gearhartville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Grace Lamb, Chrissie Millard and Lois Sharpless and brothers Merle Millard, Wesley James Millard and Carl Millard. Honoring Sharon’s wishes, a private viewing and service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg. Pastor Noel Meyers will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
