Obituary for Sharon Muir-Kerner

Sharon Lee Muir-Kerner, 66, of Hawk Run, formerly of Wattsburg, PA, lost her courageous battle against cancer on Saturday December 17, 2016 at home surrounded by loved ones. Sharon was born January 6, 1950 in Philipsburg to the late Gerald J. and Lois E. (Kerr) Muir. Sharon is survived by her children Michael and Deanna of Erie, Lindy Singer of Malibu, CA, and Matthew and Jason Kerner of Buckhannon, WV; granddaughter Katie Kerner of Shinnston, WV; Brothers and Sisters Caroline (William) Slother of Hawk Run, John (Teri) Muir of Erie, Kathleen (Terry) Smeal of Hawk Run, Mary Beth (Mark) Swears of Chesapeake, VA, Keith (Dianne) Muir of Towanda; Brother and Sister-in-laws: Kim Muir of Philipsburg, Jack (Betty) Kerner of Indianapolis, IN, Alice Sturdivant of Erie and Zyg Mazanowski of Indianapolis IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her best friend and husband of 39 years David P. Kerner on September 6, 2015 in Erie. Pa; two brothers, Richard and Scott Muir, Sister-in-law Karen Mazanowski; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Sharon was a 1967 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. She moved to Erie, PA and worked at Copes-Vulcon for several years, then retired from Eriez Magnetics after 32 years in January 2016. She was a member of St. Joseph Church Bread of Life Community in Erie, where her love of music lead her to be an active cantor. Anyone who knew Sharon knew how she gave selflessly of her time, talents, heart and soul for others. Whether it be helping the homeless, outreach programs or holiday gift baskets just to name a few. Sharon was a true person of faith and will be sadly missed by all. A funeral mass will be celebrated at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. 4th St. Philipsburg, PA on Wednesday, December 21st at 11:00am with Father John Gibbons as celebrant. Friends may be received at the church from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11am. Burial will be at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Philipsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.dahlgrenfuneralhome.com.
