Obituary for Robert Singer

Robert Dale Singer, 82, of Gearhartville, Philipsburg RD, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his home. Born April 3, 1936 in Six Mile Run, Bedford County, PA, he was a son of the late Harry & Viola (Fleck) Singer. Bob was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School and was a member of the Port Matilda American Legion. He was the owner of Bob’s Bar (on 9th Street) in Philipsburg and later owned Bob’s Used Cars. He also worked in construction for Local Union #824. A veteran of the US Army, Bob served with the military police during the Korean Conflict. On September 29, 1966 in Winchester, VA, he married Joann Perks, who passed away November 10, 2012. Bob is survived by a daughter Penny Lynn Conklin and her husband Charles of West Decatur and a grandson Cody Schneider. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two infant daughters Patty and Barbara Ann; four brothers Kenneth, James, Lewis and Raymond; and four sisters Hazel Douglas, Edith Leighty, Betty Thompson and June Wolfe. Honoring Bob’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg. He will be laid to rest at the Philipsburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to a local Veteran’s organization or to the Nathaniel D.
