Obituary for Robert "Corky" Botwright

Robert W. “Corky” Botwright, 92, of Chester Hill, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Windy Hill Village P.S.L., Philipsburg. Born June 10, 1926 in Chester Hill, he was a son of the late James & Olive W. (Strohm) Botwright. Corky was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church where he was on church council, sang in the choir and was the groundskeeper. He was also a member of Valley Voices and the Chester Hill Fire Department. Corky enjoyed gardening and could be seen daily walking to McDonalds to meet up with his fellow coffee club friends. He received an honorary diploma from Philipsburg High School and had worked for Motor Parts Company of PA, among numerous other jobs. Corky was a Private in the US Army during World War II and had served with the last Cavalry Unit. On July 6, 1954 in Philipsburg, he married Margaret I. “Irma” Fleck, who survives. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Raymond, who was an infant, James Jr., and Arnold L. and sisters Elizabeth Woods and Bertha Warrender. A celebration of Corky’s life will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 215 Laurel St., Philipsburg, on Friday, November 9 at 2pm with Pastor Christine Roe officiating. Friends will be received from 1pm to 2pm, prior to the service. Military honors will conclude the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Corky’s memory may be made to the First Lutheran Church, PO Box 377 Philipsburg, PA 16866.
