Obituary for Rebecca Maruschak

Rebecca G. Maruschak, 78, of Philipsburg, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital. Born February 8, 1938 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late George P. & Jean L. (Wilson) Maruschak Sr. Becky was a 1956 graduate of Philipsburg High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Misericordia College in Dallas, PA. For over 20 years she taught at St. Matthew’s Catholic School in Tyrone. During her summers off, she worked at Black Moshannon State Park. Becky was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, where she was a Eucharist Minister. She collected Angels and often bought them and handed them out to others. Becky was an animal lover, liked to clip funny comics and sayings, and enjoyed wine, pizza and ice-cream. Becky is survived by three Sisters Margaret “Peggy” Johns of Orville, OH, Pauline Knauf and her husband Alvin of Glen Alan, IL and Anna Jeanette “Jenny” Maruschak of Philipsburg; three Brothers William “Bill” Maruschak and his wife Barb of Linglestown, James “Tony” Maruschak and his wife Yvonne of Philipsburg, and Eugene Maruschak and his wife Wendy of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers James L., George P. Jr., Andrew Lester and Raymond C. “Ramon” Maruschak and an Uncle Johnny Maruschak. A memorial service will be held at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Becky’s memory may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S.
