Obituary for Odette Fowler

Odette Fowler, 88, of Troy, Philipsburg RD, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born October, 24, 1929 in Paris, France, she was the daughter of Lucien and Yvonne (Bignaux) Zeller. She met her husband Carl Fowler in Etretat, a small town on the coast of Normandy in France, on VE Day (Victory in Europe) in May of 1945. They met when she was 15 ½ and married a year later. She came to America in 1946 and in 1950 received her citizenship. Odette started working at Cowdrick’s Drugstore, now known as Grattan’s Pharmacy for 55 years.She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg and was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club where she met her fellow war-bride friends.Odette was a wonderful cook, loved to knit and crochet, enjoyed gardening and yardwork. She was an avid Penguins, Steelers, and Penn State fan. She loved her family, and loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her daughter Odette Pelton and her husband David, son Jeffrey Fowler, seven grandchildren, Ericka Shaw and her husband Bryan, Yvonne Garland and her husband David, Jeffrey Fowler II, Jennelle Jira and her husband Timothy, Hilary Castillo and her husband Eddy, Trey Pelton, and Sonja Dimoff and her husband John; Great- grandchildren Makenzie Reed and husband Anthony, Gregory Leturgey II, Brayden and Sophia Shaw, Bryce and Deacon Garland, and Tobyn and Calvin Jira, and one brother Michael Zeller and his wife Huguette of Paris, France.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl Fowler, and great-granddaughter Skylar Shaw.Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10 am to 12 pm. A memorial service will follow with Rev. Ryan Parish, Rev. William R. Fowler, and Rev. John T. “Jack” Fowler officiating.
