Obituary for Norma Perks

Norma Jean Perks, 88, of Gearhartville, passed away Sunday, September 12 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born February 20, 1933 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Boyd A. and Helen (Sherokey) Davis. Norma was a graduate of Morris Township High School and retired from Navasky’s, where she worked for 35 years. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg, and the Edith Shimmel Missionary Society at the church. Norma’s greatest love was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting. On February 9, 1952 in Gearhartville, she married Clyde James Perks, who preceded her death on December 5, 2007. Norma is survived by four daughters Vicci Cuneo and husband Kevin of Philipsburg, Cindy Peddigree and husband Jerry of West Decatur, Lisa White and husband Jack of Philipsburg and Susan Kelly and husband Thomas of Brunswick, GA; three sisters Betty Parks of Levittown, Carol Beish and husband Marvin of West Decatur and Doretta Hullihen and husband Ed of Curwensville; two brothers Chuck Davis of Munson and Jim Davis and wife Sis of Hawk Run; a sister in law Emma Jean McCartney of Gearhartville; seven grandchildren Amy Young and husband Aquito, Chelsea Pell and husband Max, Tia Wisor and husband Rob, Lyndsay Westwood and husband Greg, John White and wife Maggie, Sara McBride and husband Adam and Joe White; and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, 2 grandsons Jonathan and Davey Taylor, son in law Mitchell Shimmel and brother Joe Davis. Friends will be received at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, on Thursday, September 16 from 10:30am until the hour of service at 11:30am. Pastor Ryan Parish will officiate. Norma will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
