Obituary for Mildred Womer (Acton)

Mildred Louise Womer, 87, of Bellefonte and formerly of State College, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at her home. Born July 14, 1931 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Catherine M. (Williams) Acton. Mildred was a 1949 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School and was an avid fan of Penn State Football. She was a member of Woodycrest United Methodist Church in State College, where she sang and played piano. On August 24, 1952 in Philipsburg, she married Robert S. Womer III, who passed away August 10, 1995. Mildred is survived by two daughters Marilyn Henninger of Belleville and Catherine M. “Kate” Crawford and her husband Tim of Philipsburg; two sons Robert S. Womer IV and his wife Lori of State College and Joseph B. Womer of Philipsburg; seven grandchildren Mandy Henninger Christophel, Valerie Henninger, Brandon Henninger, Robert S. Womer V, Zach Womer, Max Womer and Nathan Crawford; a great grandchild Hunter McClure; and a sister Kathy Jo Larson and her husband Bill of Hyde. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son in law Barry Henninger. A funeral service will be held at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Saturday, May 18 at 1pm with Pastor Renee Ford officiating. Mildred will be laid to rest at the Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11am until the hour of service. Memorial contributions in Mildred’s memory may be made to Woodycrest United Methodist Church, 219 W.
