Obituary for Michael Barnhart

Michael J. Barnhart, 70, of Philipsburg, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at his residence. Born on July 16, 1950 in Bellefonte, he was a son of the late James and Elsie (Jordan) Barnhart. Mike was a 1968 graduate of Bellefonte High School and was a Professional Driver for Wal-Mart. He was also a former EMT for Alpha Fire Company (State College). A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Vietnam Era. Mike was a member of the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) and the West Branch Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and fishing. On January 7, 1984 in State College, he married Elaine C. (Larkin) Barnhart, who survives at home. He is also survived by five children Matthew Barnhart, Tim Barnhart and his wife Mallory, Joshua Barnhart and his wife Teresa, Christopher Barnhart, Sarah Barnhart and Madison Barnhart; a sister Debra Chambers and her husband Cordy; a brother David Barnhart; a granddaughter Addalynn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Richard L. Barnhart. At the request of Mike, there will be no public viewing and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Mike will be laid to rest at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
