Obituary for Maura Long

Maura B. Long, of West Decatur, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg. She was 92. Maura was born July 3, 1924 in West Decatur as the ninth child of Nellie P. (Dimeling) and Charles F. Stonebraker. She had the good fortune to have loving parents and nine siblings, whom she stayed very close with all their lives. She was predeceased by her parents and all her siblingsā€¦sisters Pauline, Florence, Verna Wisor, Irene Mason, Helen Kanouff and brothers Merle, Earl, Max and Roy. On August 12, 1956, Maura married Robert B. Long. Together they had a daughter Mary Jo. Robert and Mary Jo also predeceased Maura. Maura worked for the Clover Farm store in West Decatur and later as a cook at the Wallaceton Boggs Elementary School in the Philipsburg Osceola School District. She was a lifelong member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in West Decatur, where she was honored for having seventeen consecutive years of perfect attendance. She is survived by nieces and nephews and other extended family members. All willingly repaid Maura for the love, care and memories she provided them over the years by assisting with her care as she aged. Services will be held at the convenience of surviving family members. She frequently worried if people in the community, especially children, were getting enough to eat. As such, in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor this kind soul is asked to make a donation to the Clearfield Food Bank, c/o Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 S. Second St. Clearfield, PA 16866. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.dahlgrenfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N.
