Obituary for Mary Eyerly

Mary Ann Eyerly, 82, formerly of Lanse, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. Born March 23, 1935, in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Morton and Anna (Miller) Erickson. Mary Ann was a graduate of Cooper Township High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Kristianson & Johnson Coal Company in Lanse, and took several classes at the Pennsylvania State University. For the majority of her career, she worked as an accountant at Penn State’s Environmental Resources Research Institute until her retirement in 2002. She was a member of several professional societies, including the Society for Research Associates (SRA), and the National Council of University Research Associates (NCURA). She was also a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanse, and the Centre Hill Grange. She was married on September 24, 1960, in Lanse to Raymond W. Eyerly, who survives of Clearfield. Also surviving is a daughter Sarah Eyerly and her husband Andy Nathan of Tallahassee, FL; a sister Jean Natoli of Clearfield; and two grandsons Jesse Nathan and Ian Nathan of Tallahassee. Mary Ann was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and cultural traditions, and also took great joy in caring for her farm in Lanse. She was never happier than when tending her sheep, rescuing abused and abandoned dogs, or observing the wild birds and animals around her home. She was a talented painter, weaver, spinner, and knitter. In her later life, she enjoyed traveling and had made trips to the Netherlands, and to Sweden to visit her family. Her steadfast appreciation of the “beautiful in the everyday” will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 3:00pm at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1167 Maple St. in Lanse with Pastor Vickie Beilfuss officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 2:00pm until the hour of the service. Burial will be at the Grassflat Lanse Lutheran Cemetery.
