Obituary for Madeline Vail

Madeline Jean Vail, 79, of Philipsburg, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born November 19, 1937 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert G. & Anna Mae (Beatty) Scott. Jean was employed many years in the clothing industry, retiring in 2009 from Streamline Fashions. She loved camping, reading and spending time with her family and friends. On July 2, 1954 in Cumberland, MD, she married George F. Vail, who passed away August 22, 2010. Jean is survived by two sons Robert E. Vail Sr. and his wife Amy of Brisbin and Mark E. Vail of North Carolina; seven grandchildren Jamie Stanton and her husband Joel, Robert E. Vail Jr., Courtney Kowach and her husband David, Tyler Vail, Shelby Vail, Seth Vail and Curtis Vail; four great grandchildren Kaden Vail, MacKenzie Vail, Mia Kowach and Carson Kowach and an uncle Donald Scott of Jersey Shore. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a son George F. Vail Jr. on September 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, PA on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00am with Pastor Christine Roe officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, November 17, from 3pm to 7pm and on Saturday, November 18 from 10am until the hour of service.
