Obituary for Louise Demchak

Louise Rose Demchak, 86, a resident of Windy Hill Village and formerly of North Philipsburg, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the home. Born July 7, 1935 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of Frank and Ida (Henico) Couturiaux. Louise was a 1953 graduate of the Philipsburg High School, and was proud to have played the French horn in the band. She had worked at the former General Cigar Factory and at the former BiLo, in the meat department. Louise was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg and helped with the church dinners and blood mobiles. She was the last president of the PTO of the North Philipsburg School, was the Judge of Elections for North Philipsburg, and volunteered at the Centre County senior center and at the Centre Hill Grange. Louise was a huge coupon shopper and loved eating ice cream! On January 20, 1957 at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Chester Hill, she married Michael V. Demchak, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2018. Surviving are her children Stanley Demchak and his wife Jody of Black Moshannon, Julia Blazosky and her husband Mark of Philipsburg and Thomas Demchak and his wife Rhonda of Glass City; three granddaughters Noelle Darby and her husband Luke, Sarah Vargo and her husband Chris and Emily Demchak and her fiancé Skyler; two great grandchildren Tristyn Slogosky and Talya Darby; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her brother Robert E. Couturiaux. A funeral service will be held at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Tuesday, February 15 at 11am with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, February 14 from 4pm to 7pm and on Tuesday, February 15 from 10am until the hour of service. Louise will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery in Chester Hill.
