Obituary for Linda Rodger (Mason)

Linda E. (Mason) Rodger, 69, of Chester Hill passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 13, 1953 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Melvin E. Mason and Mildred J. (Carter) Bennett. Linda was a 1971 graduate of West Branch High School and a 1974 graduate of the Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 45 years for the former Philipsburg State General Hospital, the former Philipsburg Area Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center (Philipsburg), Dr. Robert Stewart and Windy Hill Village P.S.L., Philipsburg, from which she retired. Linda was a member of the Forest Baptist Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She also participated in lunch groups with former Philipsburg Hospital employees and former Geisinger employees. On April 21, 1973, at the Forest Baptist Church, she married Michael C. “Mick” Rodger, who preceded her in death earlier this year on January 4, 2022. Linda is survived by three sisters Joanie English and her husband Barry of Morrisdale, Rebecca Hubler and her husband Alvin of Munson and Abby Bennett and her significant other Lee Gunter of Munson; a brother Vic Welker and his wife Bonnie of Lompoc, CA; several nieces and nephews and her adopted family Brian Hughes and Bobbie Dixon Hughes and their children Haley Dixon, Makenzie Gracey and her son Baby G (as Linda called him) and Trezden Dixon. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Susan. A funeral service will be held at the Forest Baptist Church, 3847 Winburne Munson Rd., Winburne, on Saturday, October 29th at 11:00am with Pastor Sue Wilson Radel officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at the Forest Baptist Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Friday, October 28th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm and at the church on Saturday, from 10am until the hour of service.
