Obituary for George "Muss" Musser

George E. “Muss” Musser, 75, of Hawk Run, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born February 2, 1943 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late William A. & Elsie Jane (Watts) Musser. George was a 1961 graduate of Philipsburg High School and retired after serving 20 years in the US Navy. He served during Vietnam. George had also worked for RP Supply and was of the Protestant Faith. He was a member of the Philipsburg BPO Elk Lodge #1173 and the Lincoln Slovak Club of Hawk Run. He loved going to Black Bear hunting camp, hunting, meeting up with his buddies at the Elks and was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons. On September 17, 1962 in Runsville, he married Rita G. Mason, who survives at home. Also surviving are two sons, Todd Musser and his wife Christine of Greenville and Travis Musser of Hawk Run; two grandsons Hayden M. Musser and Tucker D. Musser; a sister Mary H. Slabon and her husband John of Winburne; a brother in law Gary H. Mason of Hawk Run; an Aunt Freida Benedett of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, a sister Billie Bierlair and a nephew Adam Slabon. Honoring George’s wishes, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in George’s memory may be made to the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, PO Box 23, Hawk Run, PA 16840.
