Obituary for Gary Conklin

Gary C. Conklin, 79, of Gearhartville, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home. Born February 13, 1939 in Osceola Mills, he was a son of the late Marvin Lester and Della Mae (Hughes) Conklin. Gary was a 1959 graduate of Philipsburg Osceola High School and was of the Protestant Faith. He was a veteran of the US Army. Gary owned Gary’s Auto Sales and had a love of racing and working on cars. On October 22, 1967 in Morrisdale, he married Sandy L. Winters, who survives at home. Also surviving is his daughter Tina R. Conklin McLaughlin of West Decatur, two granddaughters Kendra B. McLaughlin and Macy L. McLaughlin, three sisters Marlene Hartshorne of Allentown, Ella Lewis and her husband Barry of Pittsburgh and Della “Bunny” Wood and her husband Harry of Philipsburg; and several nieces & nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Marvin L. Conklin Jr., Robert T. Conklin, Kenneth R. Conklin and Cecil L. Conklin. Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Saturday, December 8, from 1 to 3pm. A memorial service will follow at 3pm with Rev. William R. Fowler officiating. Burial will be private at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
