Obituary for Ethel Woods

Ethel M. Woods, 95, formerly of West Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Windy Hill Village P.S.L., Philipsburg. Born September 22, 1921 in Black Moshannon, she was a daughter of the late Daniel C. & Dorothy M. (Lannen) Wallace. Ethel was a 1939 graduate of Philipsburg High School and was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of Ohio (Morgan Run) United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher. On February 4, 1942 in Port Matilda, she married Wallace F. “Duke” Woods, who passed away April 3, 2003. Ethel is survived by a daughter Kay Woods of Lexington, KY; a granddaughter Amy Glenn and her husband Joel of Sykesville, MD; two sisters Kathryn D. Wallace and Sara J. Wallace, both of West Decatur; a brother William W. Wallace of Lake City, FL; a sister in law Judith Wallace Twoey and her husband James of Vero Beach, FL; four nephews Walter Johnson and his wife Adina of Campobello, SC, Douglas Wallace of State College, Greg Wallace and his wife Deborah and their sons Avery and Cameron of Lake City, FL, and Daniel Wallace and his wife Sue of Allport; and five nieces Linda Daniel of Philipsburg, Loretta Hepler of Parker, CO, Kimberly Park and her husband Glen of Parker, CO, Melissa Jones of West Decatur and Annette Fleck and her husband Roy of West Decatur. In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by two brothers James D. Wallace and Paul W. Wallace and a sister June E. Johnson. A funeral service will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Michelle R. Bodle officiating. Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, August 11 from 6 to 8pm and on Saturday, August 12 from 1pm until the hour of service. Memorial contributions in Ethel’s memory may be made to Clearfield County SPCA, 275 21st St. Clearfield, PA 16830.
