Obituary for Ella Gilham

Ella Jane Gilham, 96, of State College and formerly of Philipsburg, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born May 28, 1925 in Howard, she was a daughter of the late Harry Irvin and Mary Viola (Hettzel) Bechdel. Ella was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was attending the Philipsburg Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed adult coloring books. On February 29, 1947 in South Philipsburg, she married Marlyn O. Gilham, who passed away March 17, 2001. Ella is survived by her daughter Sarah “Sally” Fleck and husband Robert of State College, her son Zeak E. Gilham and wife Kelly of Runville, sister Anna Grace Meeker and husband Reed of Runville, grandchildren Kevin Gilham and wife Jamie, Kellie Sue Best and husband David, Shelby Corman, Shane Corman and Dayna Gilham, great grandchildren Cooper Gilham, Haley Gilham, Rory Gilham, Janson Best and Liam Best, and the love of her life, her cat Goldie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Christopher J. Gilham, a sister Ida May Lansberry, and brothers Marvin, George, Perry, Clair, Irvin and Samuel. A funeral service will be held at the Philipsburg CMA Church, 317 Hemlock St., Philipsburg on Wednesday, March 16 at 11am with Pastor Scott Hartsock officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10am until the hour of service. Ella will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
