Obituary for Eleanor Flaitz

Eleanor Jean Flaitz, 89, formerly of Philipsburg, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville. Born August 8, 1929 in Ben’s Creek, Upper Yoder Township, Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late Edward Frostberg & Hannah Louise (Lindenberg) Frostberg Miterko. She was a 1947 graduate of Bigler Township High School and had worked at General Cigar and was a homemaker. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg, where she helped with fundraisers. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word searches, cross word puzzles, refinishing woodwork and when she younger, crocheting. On March 17, 1956 in Philipsburg, she married Charles Alexander Flaitz, who passed away January 2, 2002. Eleanor is survived by a son Keith Allen Flaitz of Olanta; a daughter Jeanne Lucas and husband Thomas of Philipsburg; two grandchildren Andrea Nicole Flaitz of Olanta and Joseph Edward Lucas of Philipsburg; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father Andrew Miterko, a daughter in law Karen (Hall) Flaitz, an infant sister Delores, a sister Winifred McQuiston, a brother Walter E. Frostberg and several aunts and uncles. A funeral service will be held at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 am with Fr. William R. Walker officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, March 10 from 6 to 8pm and on Monday, March 11 from 10 to 11am.
