Edna Maxine Burge, 88, of Morrisdale, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Altoona. Born March 17, 1930 in Morrisdale, she was a daughter of the late Laurence Howard & Orpha Belle (Smeal) Albert. Edna was a 1948 graduate of Morris-Cooper Township High School and was a homemaker, mail carrier and secretary. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ, Morrisdale. Edna was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, enjoyed hunting, crocheting and sewing. She was a Shirley Temple collector and had pride in her family. On July 5, 1946 in Elkton, MD, she married James Winfield Burge, who survives at home. Also surviving are daughters Mary Rachelle “Shelly” Broderick and husband Thomas J. of Niagara Falls, NY and Patricia Ann McKnight and husband Curtis F. of Morrisdale; son in law Donald J. Chaput of Boonville, NY; six grandchildren Dr. Matthew D. McKnight and wife Dr. Dianalee of Highland, MD, Daniel J. Broderick and wife Beth of LeRaysville, Donald J. Chaput of Phoenix, AZ, Bethany R. Tesche and husband James of Palmyra, Luke J. Broderick and wife Christina of Newfane, NY and Jonathan S. McKnight of Morrisdale; five great grandchildren Clara McKnight of Highland, MD, Julian McKnight of Highland, MD, Olivia Broderick of Newfane, NY, Lilly Broderick of Newfane, NY and Neal Broderick of LeRaysville; sister Mary Hanslovan of Morrisdale; brother John Albert and wife Bernice of Glass City; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Lee Chaput, twin grandsons James Wayne and Gerald Wayne McKnight; and siblings Pauline Albert, Gerald Albert, Jane Woods, Samuel Albert and Betty Albert (infant). Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, PA on Saturday, February 9 from 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home of Sunday, February 10 at 1pm with her son in law, Pastor Thomas J. Broderick, officiating. Edna will be laid to rest at the Summit Hill Cemetery, Morrisdale.
