Obituary for Dottie Hummel

Dottie Jean Hummel, 67, of Gearhartville, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born January 23, 1954 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Glenn O. and Pauline (Murazik) Evans. Dottie was a 1973 graduate of the West Branch High School and was of the Catholic Faith. She was a member of the Chester Hill Hose Company, was steward of the Gearhartville Sportsmen’s Club and enjoyed gardening. On March 30, 1974 at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in West Decatur, she married William C. Hummel, who survives at home. Also surviving are two sons William C. Hummel Jr. and Jason B. Hummel, both of Gearhartville; three grandchildren Tyler and his companion Pam, William Patrick, and Courtney; one great grandson Gunner; a sister Connie Shimmel of Kylertown; two brothers Glenn Evans of Morrisdale and Mark Evans and his wife Diane of Hawk Run; a sister in law Sharon Templeton and her husband Fred of New Liberty; two nieces Julie Shimmel of Florida and Hailey Shimmel of Morrisdale; a nephew Will Templeton and his wife Jody of New Liberty; and numerous aunts, uncles and extended family. In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by a sister Cathy Evans. A public memorial service will be held at the Gearhartville Sportsmen's Club, 36 Blue Spruce Rd., Philipsburg, on Tuesday, April 6 at 1:00pm.
