Obituary for Doris Crain

Doris A. Crain, 78, of Gearhartville, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Windy Hill Village. Born May 4, 1939 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward & Mary (Burton) Long. Doris was a 1957 graduate of Philipsburg High School and attended G-Free Methodist Church. She had worked at the former McCrory’s 5&10 and also at Long Motor Bus Company. She enjoyed crocheting and babysitting all six of her grandchildren while they were growing up. On June 3, 1962 in Gearhartville, she married Richard G. Crain, who survives at home. She is also survived by her three children Richard D. Crain and his wife Gail, Susan K. Billotte and her husband Rodney and Stephen M. Crain and his wife Trina, all of Gearhartville; two sisters Florence Hamer of Brisbin and Genevieve Kennedy of Osceola Mills; a brother Duane Long and his wife Jane of Gearhartville; six grandchildren Trevor Billotte, Justin Teats, Richard D. Crain Jr., Kelli Madden, Stephen M. Crain Jr., and Aaron D. Crain; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Edward T. Long. Funeral Services will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Merry Kendall officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 23 from 5pm to 8pm and on Wednesday, May 24 from 10am until the hour of service at 11am. Memorial contributions in Doris’s memory may be made to Windy Hill Village, Memorial Fund, 100 Dogwood Dr. Philipsburg, PA 16866.
