Obituary for Charlene Myers

Charlene Fay “Char” Myers, 74, of Philipsburg, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born March 10, 1947 in Munhall, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Nellie (Bly) Thompson. Char was a 1965 graduate of Munhall High School and retired from Penn State University, where she worked in Admissions and the Alumni Office. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Hawk Run, the Carpathian Club (where she enjoyed spending her Mondays with Georgie) and was treasurer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Char loved her family and friends. She was a devoted Pittsburgh Pirate fan especially of Francisco Cervelli, enjoyed watching Family Feud, music and bowling. On January 20, 1968 at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hawk Run, she married Charles E. “Arch” Myers, who survives at home. Also surviving are sons Charles E. Myers Jr. and wife Deborah of Springfield, VA and Jason P. Myers and wife Suzy of Columbia; daughters Erin L. Rieppel and husband J.T. of South Williamsport and Megan C. Davis and husband Scott of Philipsburg; a sister Jonell Benzio Condo of Port Matilda; grandchildren Chelsea, Jacob, Luke, Joey, Bridget, Aleigha, Ian, Aaron, Mosley and Marshall; God-children Amy Jo, Tracy, Renee and Danny; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Arnold Thompson, Jeanne Lay and Chuckie Thompson. Liturgy of the Departed will be held at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 53 Fulton St., Hawk Run, on Friday, August 27 at 2:00pm with Father Paul Bigelow and Father Deacon Emil Gulick officiating. Masks are mandatory at church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg on Thursday, August 26 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm with Panikhida at 7:30pm.
