Obituary for Celenie McDonald (Yanssens)

Celenie Mae (Yanssens) McDonald, 88, of Vail, AZ, and formerly of Cresson, Philipsburg, and many other places far and wide, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Born on November 30, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Yanssens. She was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 21 years, James E. McDonald, her brothers, Robert and Alphonse Yanssens, her sister, Margaret Mitchell, and two infant brothers. Celenie is survived by her children Tammy and Robert Weld of Harvest, AL and Jamie and Dominique Meriwether of Vail, AZ; 6 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her beloved fur grandbabies, including her darling Mr. Weasley. In her younger days, Celenie was very active in her church, in the community chorus, doing ceramics and going on road trips with her family and friends. She was a radiology technician for many years having graduated from Mount Aloysius “a very long time ago” as she liked to say. A graveside service will be held at the Philipsburg Cemetery on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1 pm with Pastor Ryan Parish officiating. There will be a dinner at the VFW immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Kidney Foundation.
