Obituary for Catherine "Kitty" Unick

Catherine E. “Kitty” Unick, 92, formerly of Philipsburg, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Knickerbocker Villa in Clearfield. Born August 6, 1928 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Foster S. and Bessie I. (Gill) Heeman. Kitty was a graduate of the Philipsburg High School and was a Floor Supervisor at the former General Cigar Company in Philipsburg. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Philipsburg, having been a Lay Leader and a member of The Quilters. She was also a member of the Centre Hill Grange. Kitty was active in the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Fawn Award for her service. She also enjoyed quilting in her spare time. On November 4, 1946 at Grace United Methodist Church, she married Russell V. Unick; he passed away on June 11, 1997. Kitty is survived by two sons Russell R. Unick and wife Sandra of Clearfield and Jeffrey L. Unick and wife Jackie of Middletown; four grandchildren Catherine Danielle Unick, Alison Marshall, Michael Unick and Lauren Unick; and two great grandsons Parker and Mason Marshall. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Rosetta M. Heeman and a great grandson Alec Marshall. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Michelle R. Bodle officiating. Kitty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Centre United Methodist Cemetery, Osceola Mills RD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kitty’s memory may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 912 E. Pine St., Philipsburg, PA 16866 or to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
