Obituary for Bonita "Bonnie" Rodgers (DeAngelo)

Bonita M. “Bonnie” Rodgers, 68, of Chester Hill, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Windy Hill Village, P.S.L., Philipsburg. Born June 27, 1950 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of Carman F. DeAngelo & Marie E. (Modzel) DeAngelo Smith. Bonnie was a 1968 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School and was a Legislative Aide for former State Representative Lynn B. Herman. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg, where she served as a trustee and elder. She was involved with the Presbyterian Women, the former Christian Women’s Club and the former Philipsburg Republican Club. Bonnie enjoyed volunteering at the church’s Soap Pantry and leading bible study. She enjoyed baking and especially loved spending time with her own family and her church family. Bonnie is survived by her son Eric Rodgers and his wife Sarah of New Cumberland; her daughter Amy Rodgers of Philipsburg; her brother Fredrick C. DeAngelo and his wife Cathy of Curwensville; her two granddaughters Sierra Miller and her husband Richard and Julia Baney and her fiancé Dustin Murarik; her grand-dog Molly; her great grandson Connor; two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents Emil & Julia (Mussgnug) Modzel and paternal grandparents Anthony & Catherine (Johnson) DeAngelo. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 E. Presqueisle St., Philipsburg, on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00am with Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30am to 11am prior to the service. Following the memorial there will be a light reception. Burial will be private at Messiah Baptist Cemetery in Lanse.
